Dermal fillers can be used to erase signs of ageing and bring fullness to the face without resorting to surgery.
The dermal fillers are used to create a natural and long-lasting result sure to revitalize, lift and define the face.
Dermal filler injections can treat wrinkles, skin folds, sagging, scarring and any loss of facial volume, with a quick procedure allowing you to go back to your daily activities almost immediately.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Hyaluronic acid fillers: The hyaluronic acid fillers are sterile, clear, Dermal Filler gels made of chemically modified hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the fluids surrounding cells and tissues. Hyaluronic acid is found in the human body in the skin, cartilage, joints and the eye. In skin tissue, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibres.
The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water and to act as a cushioning agent. Hyaluronic acid is hygroscopic which means that it draws water very strongly to it, yielding a larger volume effect than the material would have by itself. Made from highly purified natural hyaluronic acid, the gel is gradually absorbed by your body through natural mechanisms.
Dermal fillers are injectable substances designed to
- Erase wrinkles
- Augment lips
- Enhance volume
- Restore the youthful three-dimensional contour of the face.
What areas can Dermal Fillers treat?
Restylane was the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler specifically designed to treat moderate facial wrinkles and folds.
The typical areas treated are;
- Nasolabial folds (lines from the end of the nose to the end of the lips)
- Perioral area (wrinkles around the lips)
- Marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth to the jawline, accentuating the downturn of the mouth)
- Lip augmentation which provides definition to lips which have become thin or wrinkled
- Volume replacement for “tear-trough deformity” (hollow under-eye circles or tired eyes)
- Subtle Cheek / Chin enhancement – hollow cheeks, cheek-lift,
- Brow-lift to give a more youthful brow
- Re-sculpting and strengthening the jaw line by lessening the effect of jowls and sagging.

Luscious lips
-
Lips full and defined - Some people are blessed with full pump or kissable lips, but some unfortunately missed the genetic lucky draw and have thin lips. To create or restore luscious lips, a simple 30 minute treatment that will last for 6-12 months is not only very safe but gives instant results. Using light, soft high-quality Hyaluronic acid fillers, your licensed plastic surgeon will transform your lips from tight and thin to full and sexy. Local anaesthesia cream is applied and only the tiniest needles are used to fill your lips to an aesthetically pleasing size – still natural looking.

What to expect after a Dermal Filler treatment?
There is mild redness and swelling after the procedure which rapidly subsides. Try to avoid aspirin-containing products or high-dosage vitamin E supplements for 10 days prior to the procedure to avoid bruising which may occur especially after treatments of the lips and cheeks.
You may put makeup on immediately and resume whatever activities you have planned, as long as you appreciate that you may have bruising which may last for up to a ten days after the procedure.
Can dermal fillers be combined with other treatments?
Dermal fillers are commonly performed at the same visit as Botulinum Toxin. Botulinum Toxin helps with the upper one-third of the face whereas injectable fillers generally help with the lower two-thirds. The combination is one of the most widely used and most effective methods of achieving a significant aesthetic improvement within 1-2 weeks time.
Can all skin types be safely treated with Dermal Fillers?
Yes, all skin types can be safely treated with dermal fillers.

FAQs
What should I do before having Dermal Fillers?
-
Firstly, it’s recommended clients to ensure they go to a reputable plastic surgeon who is fully registered and licensed to practise aesthetic treatments. Our surgeons are fully licensed and qualified plastic surgeons.
-
Secondly, ask who will be performing the treatment and how much experience do they have? We believe that only healthcare professionals should be allowed to inject ie only dermatologist / doctors or plastic surgeons. Our surgeons have up to 20 years experience and have specialist training for dermal fillers.
-
Thirdly, ask what type of fillers they will be using, whether permanent or temporary, so that you are able to make an informed choice. Temporary fillers are believed to be safer and results more predictable.
-
Finally, should they use a brand you don’t recognize, ask more information on the company producing them. We have always been using only reputable suppliers, such as Restylane or Allergan and only products with high safety standards and which are long established.
What does the treatment involve?
Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle.
The gel helps to plump up the skin, thereby smoothing out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller appearance. Our belief is ‘less is more’ so we will always aim to give you a natural, subtle look. No one wants to ‘look like’ they have hand work done, but look refreshed and natural.Do the injections hurt?
Our surgeon’s are highly skilled and will make you feel as comfortable and low pain as possible. Most dermal fillers include an added anaesthetic, which makes the treatment virtually painless.
How long does the treatment take?
The length of the treatment will depend on the areas being filled, but generally, the procedure takes about 30 minutes.
How soon will I see the results?
Dermal fillers work instantly, so you’ll see the results straight away.
How long will the results last?
The effects will fade gradually but should last between 6 and 18 months depending on the treatment, at which point you can come back to us for a top up treatment. If you decide not to continue with the injections the gel will biodegrade in the skin and simply disappear.
Are there any side effects?
However, sensitive patients may experience some swelling or bruising which typically doesn’t last any longer than 48 hours after the procedure. The results of dermal filler can last between 1 year to 18 months. Results do vary based on your age and skin.
